Digital content has specific characteristics that they cannot be distributed smoothly even if there is one flaw in all of distribution processes (creation / archiving / networking / protection / consumption etc). So, the most important point for us is that we overlook all of content distribution processes. Especially, solving the problems on digital content multilaterally is inevitable (for example, “how do our lives enrich from our cultural and spiritual points of view?” and/or “how will new digital content be widespread?” when a new genre of digital content appears in the near future.

Our lab is tackling the researches on innovative intellectual processing methods for digital content. Especially we focus on “digital content creation technologies”, “digital content understanding technologies” and “digital content distribution technologies”

1.Digital Content Creation Technologies

Automatic 3DCG animation generation system only by scenario input (fig.1), Animepedia system (3DCG animation creation system by multiple user), high-performance skeletonization for 3DCG, innovative input method for deformable 3DCG objects, automatic cloth-fitting room, floating 3D image displaying system (fig.2) etc

2.Digital Content Understanding Technologies

Automatic video metadata generation technology for video retrieval, depth estimation and 3D model restructuring system based on automatic vanishing point detection, high-performance light source detection for photo/CG synthesis (fig.3), emotional TV rating system etc

3.Digital Content Distribution Technologies

Cyclic broadcasting methods for Internet videos, 3D video coding, automatic objectionable content detection, content protection & rights management, Web security etc.
